Media Tours

As part of COP29, foreign media representatives will have the unique opportunity to explore Azerbaijan's World Heritage sites, historical architectural and cultural monuments, renewable energy sources, and diverse initiatives in sustainable tourism.

These organized tours, running from November 15-22, 2024, will not only highlight the country's strides in sustainable development but also provide an enriching experience of the significant cultural and modern sights that played a considerable role in formation of Azerbaijani culture.

► Grand City Tour – 15 / 18 / 20 / 22 November
On this tour, you will explore the Old City which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site surrounded by 12th-century walls and brimming with Oriental architecture and history. The tour will also take in the Heydar Aliyev Center, a world-class exhibition and museum complex designed by illustrious architect Zaha Hadid and the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan which reflects the history of Azerbaijan from ancient times to the present day.

► Green City Tour – 16 / 17 / 21 / 22 November
On this tour, you will visit the House Museum of Nobel Brothers where you can learn about the lifestyle of Baku's turn-of-the-century oil magnates and experience the atmosphere of that time, the Green Port – Port of Baku which is the prime transport and logistics hub of Eurasia that invests and promotes in environmentally friendly and sustainable operations in all formats of the port and maritime industry and Garadagh Solar Power Plant which is the largest solar power plant in the Caspian region.

► Natural Monuments and Clean City Tour – 15 / 17 / 20 November
On this tour, you will visit the Yanardag State Historical, Cultural and Natural Reserve where a flame has been burning continuously for thousands of years at the base of a small hillside, the Baku Waste to Energy Plant which was established to improve waste management in the city and the Fire Temple where you can discover the incredible story of Azerbaijan’s ancient fire worshippers and gaze into flames once described by Marco Polo.

► Rocks and Volcanoes Tour – 17 / 18 / 19 November
On this tour, you will discover the Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape which has an astonishing collection of over 6,000 ancient petroglyphs depicting ways of life dating back tens of thousands of years and Gobustan mud volcanoes which reflect the rich biodiversity surrounding the mud volcanoes and are considered one of the world’s most unique natural phenomena.

► Shamakhi Tour – 16 / 19 / 21 November
On this tour, you will visit the Diri Baba mausoleum which is a unique two-story mausoleum-mosque dating back to the 15th century, Damirchilar village which is rich in the centuries-old tradition of blacksmithing and an attractive winery complex Meysari to experience Azerbaijani viticulture.
