COP29 Academy

The COP29 Academy is a broad project offering mentoring, professional development, and job opportunities. The main goal of the Programme is to ensure that participants gain new knowledge about climate change and sustainability, and share this information with their peers and families. The Programme also aims to promote a culture of continuous development and learning.

Participants will have the opportunity to gain support and valuable knowledge from leading professionals in their field and to build important business links.

The Programme will include a range of training sessions to develop such key skills as leadership, communication, continuous professional development, project management, and a culture of learning.

Participants in the COP29 Academy will be employed by the COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company, enabling them to make their contribution to COP29 as staff members.

The Programme is intended only for those who graduated in any subject (with a bachelor’s or master’s degree) between 1 January 2023 and 1 July 2024.

• The candidate must have graduated from an accredited university.

• Only Azerbaijani citizens can apply for the Programme.

• Only individuals who are not employed can apply to the Programme. Particular attention will be paid to a candidate’s prior сommunity activity, experience in areas requiring leadership skills, and activities concerning ecological sustainability.

• The candidate must provide contact details of two people who are able to confirm their personal qualities, skills, and career potential. These referees must have been closely involved in the candidate’s academic or professional activity prior to their application to the Programme.

• The candidate must submit a motivation letter of no more than 2,000 characters.

• The candidate must be fluent in Azerbaijani and English.

• The candidate must cover their own living expenses in Baku for the duration of the project.

• Male candidates must have completed their compulsory military service, have been officially discharged, or have a valid deferment.

• The candidate must provide a CV with details about their education, work experience, skills, and achievements.

Academy participants will have jobs in different departments of the COP29 Operating Company in line with requirements.

Training as part of the COP29 Academy will take place in July and August this year.

We will sign a special contract with the COP29 Academy participants. On the basis of the contract we will cover minimal expenses for participants during training. From September onwards after their appointment to the relevant departments, participants will be paid the commensurate salary.
